January... Dark... Cold and wet... Monday morning... English lesson... Who can be motivated by going to school???
Well, we are! Today we have a special guest in the secondary class, Jean-Jacques Lovis, the president of Concise Children's Chess Club.
We tell Jean-Jacques about our school and present our class. Jean-Jacques tells us about his passion, CHESS!
After a short introduction (even with some new words and phrases in English, thanks Jean-Jacques for accepting this challenge!), we can directly play on small boards (4x5) invented by JJ for a quick start even for beginners. It's a lot of fun, and the games are punchy and don't take a very long time because we play with only 4 pieces each! But we still have to think real quick!
Those of us that know the rules well can switch to bigger boards and play with all pieces, or watch the Battle of the Masters! (Patrick couldn't resist the temptation to join our class when he saw the chessboards...)

It's a pity it's already over! But we all have learned to play chess or improved our game - along with some important life lessons! Here are some of them:
"I've learned patience. Because a chess game can be looooong!" Lenka
"I've learned that ALL pieces are important in the game, just like we are ALL important!" Tamara
"I've learned new game techniques, and taking quick and FATAL decisions!" Emma
"I've learned to elaborate strategies to fight and win! Not only on the chessboard!" Jean-Noam
"One piece alone, even the Queen, can't win. All pieces have to work together to win, just like in real life!" Marion

So if you want to challenge a chess master for a game, you know where to find us!
